The Life Council

Nine voices await your question. Each sees the world differently. None can live your life for you.

Step into the Council of the Nine Realms, where the language of myth meets the examination of real human lives. Bring a question, enter a Realm and discover what another perspective may reveal.

A different kind of consultation

You bring the question. The Realms bring their ways of seeing.

Sometimes one way of looking at a problem is all we can see. We turn it around in our heads, return to the same conclusions and wonder why nothing changes.

The Council invites you to encounter different ways of examining the very same situation.

One voice may strip away confusion. Another may look at what is being avoided. A third may notice what your decision means for people around you. Another might challenge the question itself.

The Realms have their own character, pace and manner of speaking. Some are direct. Some work with imagery. Some offer uncomfortable questions. Some know when to stop.

They need not agree. The purpose is to allow different insights to emerge from the same circumstances.

Nine voices. Authority is yours.
Within the Council

Meet the nine Realms.

Each Realm is a distinct voice with its own purpose and way of examining a question. Their personalities are part of the experience. Their differences are the reason the Council exists.

I

The Universe Within

Step away from the immediate worry and look at the wider landscape of your experience. This Realm makes room for perspective when everything feels crowded or uncertain.

II

The Wise Man of the Mountains

A spare and measured voice. The Wise Man removes noise, looks for what is essential and asks what is genuinely within your control.

III

The Oracle

Possibility, image and the paths before you. The Oracle explores what may follow from the choices you actually have, without claiming to predict the future.

IV

The Well of Truth

Look closely into what you know and what you merely believe. The Well separates evidence, assumptions and rationalisation, even when the distinction is awkward.

V

The Ancient Mother

A voice attentive to care, human needs, vulnerability and the limits people face. She gives proper weight to what support and protection may require.

VI

The Keeper of the Threshold

Some choices involve crossing from one chapter of life into another. The Keeper examines endings, commitments, readiness and the real cost of a transition.

VII

The Trickster

An irreverent intelligence with little patience for circular thinking. The Trickster exposes contradictions and can unsettle a rigid story with a few well-placed words.

VIII

The Weaver

Every life has connections. The Weaver examines relationships, patterns, responsibilities and the consequences a decision may have beyond yourself.

IX

The Empty Throne

The final seat belongs to no adviser. The Empty Throne reminds you that no voice can carry your responsibility for you. The choice remains yours.

The Realms are symbolic voices within an AI consultation system. They do not possess supernatural knowledge, predict destiny or claim authority over your life. Their character and methods are designed to encourage deeper examination of your questions.

Entering another perspective

A place to bring the questions you have carried for too long.

The Council has its own world, language and atmosphere. Each Realm approaches the visitor differently.

You may find yourself before the uncompromising clarity of the Well, the dry intelligence of the Trickster, or the quiet finality of the Empty Throne.

The experience draws on myth and psychology to give shape to different ways of thinking. Beneath that atmosphere is a carefully designed method of examining the questions people bring.

The voices have their place. The final seat remains yours.
Two ways to seek counsel

One voice, or the gathered Council?

Some questions benefit from one careful perspective. Others contain tensions that deserve examination from several different directions.

An individual Realm

The individual consultation

Bring your question to one of the nine Realms. You can choose the perspective that interests you and explore your circumstances through its particular approach.

The consultation remains focused, allowing you to examine the matter with a single distinctive voice rather than drawing in every possible consideration.

Particularly suitable for a specific concern, a difficult assumption, a choice you're considering or an issue you'd like to examine more closely.

The consultation journey

How a question moves through the Council.

01

Bring your question

Explain the matter in your own words. Include the background you consider relevant and keep anything else private.

02

Choose your Realm

Select a perspective or use the Council's approach to finding a voice suited to the question.

03

Hear the response

The AI responds within that Realm's distinctive voice and reasoning method, using the circumstances you've provided.

04

Decide what remains

Examine what emerged. Ask further questions where appropriate, consider another Realm and decide what, if anything, to do.

The thinking behind the experience

Developed and programmed by Martin Rothery.

The Council is a specialist AI system Martin has developed and programmed using the thinking, methods and experience gained through nearly four decades of helping people.

He designed the nine Realms as genuinely different approaches to examining human circumstances. Their purposes, instructions, boundaries and ways of speaking form the framework within which the AI consultations take place.

The symbolic atmosphere gives those perspectives an identity and makes the experience more involving. The underlying work concerns the questions people bring, the assumptions they make and the possibilities they may have overlooked.

The Council's responses are generated by AI using Martin's programmed framework. Martin does not personally write each consultation.

For an assessment personally undertaken by Martin, Living also offers the separate service A Reckoning .

The Council can offer another way of seeing. What you do with it belongs to you.

The Council's limits

The final decision belongs to you.

The Council may help you see things differently. It cannot know facts you haven't supplied, reveal hidden destinies or guarantee that an interpretation is right.

Even within Martin's carefully developed framework, the consultations are generated by AI and may contain mistakes or misunderstandings.

Your private Living work is not automatically sent to the Council. You decide what background to share when bringing a question.

The Council does not replace medical, psychological, financial or legal advice, and it is not an emergency service. Serious decisions deserve appropriate evidence and professional support where needed.

Sometimes a consultation will illuminate a possibility. Sometimes it will reveal that more information is needed. Sometimes the wisest outcome is to stop consulting and make your own choice.
